RACE INFORMATION

Overview
Held on the second Sunday of September each year, the Gloucester Mountain Man TriChallenge is unique. The first leg is a 24km mountain bike starting in town then quickly heading on to mountain and 4WD roads, creek beds, cattle tracks, rainforest, country roads and open country. The second leg is a 11km paddle down the crystal clear waters of the Barrington River, with twists and turns, rapids and past fields. The final leg is a 9km trail run leg through paddocks and along the edge of farms to finish back in Gloucester District Park.

The race starts at the southern end of Boundary Road, where cyclists proceed in a northern direction entering Thunderbolts Way then turning left onto Buckett’s Road until reaching private property. The bike leg then proceeds across country through the property looping back and returning to Buckett’s Road continuing on in a southerly direction across the ford onto Stanton’s Lane and then turning right onto Faulkland Road. Taking a left turn off this road the track is now cross country through beef grazing land returning to the Faulkland Road across two more fords before turning right across another ford climbing the hill before cruising down to Rocky Crossing where the kayak leg begins.

The paddle leg commences at Rocky Crossing and terminates at the Barrington Bridge where the trail run leg starts.

The trail run climbs tracks past Barrington and returns to Gloucester Park.

Transitions
Transition Areas or TA’s are where an entrant or team changes disciplines and/or completes a challenge. These are sites where first aid is available and support crews set up to assist in moving through the course. They are staffed with event crew, local volunteers such as scouts and medical. The event has a communication connection with each TA and SAR teams use them as hubs to move around the course.
