GLOUCESTER MOUNTAIN MAN TRICHALLENGE
SUNDAY 8 SEPTEMBER
MTNB, Paddle & Trail Run
NSW's longest running multisport event
The Gloucester Mountain Man TriChallenge is a unique multisport event, the format is different from a normal triathlon in that it consists of a 22km mountain bike ride along mountain and 4WD roads, creek beds, cattle tracks, rain forest and open country. The second leg consists of an 11km kayak paddle down the crystal-clear waters of the Barrington River, and the third being a run leg 9kms long, the majority of which is off road and back into the town of Gloucester.
Gloucester continues to build on its enormous tourism potential, with many beautiful rivers, the Barrington Tops National Parks, State Forests, rain forest areas and fabulous bush walking trails. We feel we have something different to draw people to this beautiful area and the Gloucester Mountain Man Triathlon showcases this.
The inaugural Mountain Man Tri was held in 1991. It attracted 117 competitors from along the east cost of Australia. The event was billed as “the triathlon with a difference” offering a mountain bike ride, kayak paddle down the picturesque and challenging Barrington River and a trail run back into Gloucester.
Due to the different nature of the course, beauty of the location and the unqualified success of the event it immediately became a permanent fixture of the Australian Triathlon and multisport Calendar.
2024 is the 31st running of the Gloucester Mountain Man TriChallenge. This years event promises to be another spectacular challenge for solo racers and teams.
The TriChallenge has close connection to the local community and major support from the local community, with SES, Rural Fire Brigades, Service Clubs, Churches, High School students and many others who assist with the smooth running and marshalling on the day. The event normally has in excess of 250 volunteers who give a whole day, and sometimes a whole weekend of their time to assist.
Race weekend starts with rego and carbo dinner on Saturday 7 September and racing on Sunday 8 September – with spring in the air this is a great time of year to take on some adventure.
